When should I replace my car battery ?

I have a Nissan battery on my 1994 Altima. It is in its 54th month of its 60 month life. Should I replace it now ? Now is the time to replace it ? I really dont want get stuck on the road sometime in the near future !!! Then again I dont want to replace it too soon also. Your comments will help me a lot. Thanks in advance !!!

As a professional mechanic, I keep a jump box in the tool box in my truck, so I never worry about my battery. But since most folks don't, for peace of mind, i'd replace it now, and save the old one for a backup. You'd be surprised how many new batteries are no good, die-hards being the worst from my experience. The battery you save may end up bailing you out one day. And it will start a car with just cables to a stand alone battery, if you get decent jumper cables. Hope this helps.....
